The Centre for Sustainable Development Goals, in collaboration with the Centre for Criminology and Victimology, organised a guest lecture titled “Correctional Counselling and Risk Assessment: Addressing Domestic Violence, Sexual Offences, and Recidivism,” delivered by Professor Lin Mingjie from the Department of Criminology at National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan. Professor Mingjie focused on the critical role of correctional counselling and risk assessment in addressing complex issues such as domestic violence, sexual offences, and recidivism. He emphasised the need for tailored counselling interventions and robust risk assessment tools to better understand the underlying causes of these crimes and prevent repeat offences. The lecture highlighted the importance of integrating criminological theories with practical, rehabilitative measures to reduce recidivism and improve societal safety.
